Adult Swim has finally rolled out the first trailer for its highly buzzed-about anime adaptation of Junji Ito’s iconic horror manga Uzumaki. After years of stalling, the four-episode series from Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell) is set to premiere on September 28, bringing Ito’s ghoulish spiral-themed horror to life.
Individuals who are familiar with Junji Ito’s manga will be presented with an abundance of familiar imagery, depicted in stark black and white.

Both the subbed and dubbed episodes of each installment will be readily available to stream the next day on MAX, followed by English-language encore airings every Thursday at 12:30 am starting October 3.
The Uzumaki anime was initially first announced in 2019 and initially scheduled for 2020, however, it encountered numerous delays. Hiroshi Nagahama (The Flowers of Evil) directs, with Aki Itami on the script for the Akatsuki and Drive production.
The title Uzumaki is currently being published by VIZ Media and is described as follows:
“Kurozu-cho, a small fog-bound town on the coast of Japan, is cursed. According to Shuichi Saito, the withdrawn boyfriend of teenager Kirie Goshima, their town is haunted not by a person or being but by a pattern: uzumaki, the spiral, the hypnotic secret shape of the world.”
