On Wednesday (August 28), Moon Tae-il, a South Korean singer left the K-pop band NCT after being accused of unspecified sexual crime allegations.
According to The Washington Post, the agency SM Entertainment confirmed the reports and posted the statement on X (formerly Twitter). “the NCT member will depart from the boy band after learning he has been “accused in a criminal case related to a sexual crime”. The label did not specify the nature of the crime.
“We recognised the seriousness of the issue, and we have decided that Taeil can no longer continue team activities,” the label said. “We have discussed this matter with Taeil, and it has been decided that he will leave the group.” The SM Entertainment added that he’s fully cooperating with the police investigation.
Furthermore, the South Korean media also reports that the Bangbae Police Station in Seoul investigating to uncover Taeil’s relation to a sexual crime.
The Associated Press also added by translating a Korean statement, “We will provide further statements as the investigation progresses.”
Therefore, Moon Tae-il was a member of the NCT group also known as Neuro Culture Technology, formed in 2016. The K-pop band NCT gained international engagement after the success of the boy band BTS.
