I am here to write a review of Speak No Evil (2024) based on my personal preferences. Remember, different people have different aspects, whenever judging my reviews.
While I am a dedicated fan of horror movies, I prefer to watch the original Dutch horror movie, Speak No Evil (2022). It is an amazing film focusing on a dark theme with a solid horror framework. The movie is compelling and leaves a mark on you.
Therefore, you should think twice before recommending it to others.
However, after two years of release, the movie was getting the American remake which first hesitated me. Speak No Evil (2024) directed by James Watkins is based on a horror thriller film.
Yet, the remake centers on more human psychological behavior than twisted horror. Watkins prefers to script Speak No Evil with dark comedy and thrill. You don’t believe that the remake is almost 80% based on the original one, but it has a complete atmosphere.
Furthermore, I was mostly laughing rather than being scared at the tension-filled moments that creatively represented humor. The movie is the perfect blend of delivery of lines, awkward silence, thriller horror, and laughter.
The storyline still follows the script from the original movie as two couples meet, and befriend each other, and one of them ghosted the other. I am not to reveal the entire story so as not to spoil your suspense.
As a result, the American remake of Speak No Evil (2024) left me confused about whether I should prefer watching this movie or not.
Keep in mind, if you are a dedicated fan of horror fiction, this remake will degrade your entertainment. You will not find most horror scenes shocking and horrifying. But for those who want to entertain themselves with a blend of horror and humor, it is the ideal choice.
