One of the best and most successful anime from Japan, Eiichiro Oda‘s One Piece Anime, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Their official website announced on Thursday that manga’s television anime is set to release an all-new anime special film this month on the 20th.
The film titled ‘One Piece Fan Letter’ will use short stories from Tomohito Osaki’s One Piece novel called Mugiwara Stories (Straw Hat Stories). The movie will focus on daily characters in the One Piece universe whose lives are influenced by the Straw Hat crew but are not actually on a quest for the legendary treasure.

The anime’s special film will be directed by Megumi Ishitani who has also achieved success in directing the opening sequence 25-26 of One Piece. Keisuke Mori is the character designer and also will be in charge of the animation. Mori has been previously part of anime’s animation for One Piece opening sequence 26. Momoka Toyoda will be responsible for the screenplay, a highly appreciated scriptwriter of My Happy Marriage, Liar Liar.
The celebration is more than just a nod to One Piece’s long and successful journey. This special film is going to be a reflection of how deeply the series has touched and influenced fans across generations.
