Mandisa Cause of Death Revealed – American Idol Season 5 Contestant

After two months of Mandisa’s death, the autopsy report revealed Mandisa’s cause of death. She died on 18 April this year at the age of 47 at her home in Nashville. According to the reports obtained by TMZ, the ‘American Idol’ contestant passed away from the complications of a chronic disease, class III obesity formerly called morbid obesity. 

The medical report claims that her weight was 488 pounds at the time of her death. Her manner of death is declared natural in the reports. 

Firstly, Mandisa’s friends found her dead in her house in April. Later, a picture was dropped on her Instagram handle which confirmed the death news of the star. The caption of the post read, “We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details.”

“We ask for your prayers for her family and close-knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time. Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world,” the post added.

Reason Behind Mandisa Weight Gain 

In 2017, Mandisa shared the reason for weight gain with PEOPLE. She revealed that the backup singer Kisha Mitchell was one of the people closest to her heart. When Kisha died of breast cancer while pregnant in 2014, she went into extremely depressed situation. 

She stated, “When she passed away, it shook the foundations underneath me. I sank into a deep pit of depression.” 

Dealing with the mental health problems, she started consuming more and eventually gained weight. This unhealthy lifestyle became the cause of the death of Mandisa. 

When she participated in the fifth season of the popular show, American Idol, she faced body shaming. But she didn’t lose hope and secured a place in the top 9 contestants. 

After stepping out of the show, she released her first full-length album ‘True Beauty’ in July 2007. This album was ranked No. 1 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart and the singer won her first Grammy Award. Later, she released more albums including ‘It’s Christmas’, ‘Freedom’, ‘Overcomer’, and ‘What If We Were Real’.
