The first season of the television anime Eko Mikawa’s baseball manga, Oblivion Battery (Bōkyaku Battery) premiered on the 9th of April 2024 and was streamed by the platform Crunchyroll as the anime aired in Japan. The 12 episodes of the series were aired for the viewers from April to June.
The official YouTube channel for Kadokawa, in a promotional video on Sunday, November 10, 2024, announced that the second season of the anime is under production. In the short video on YouTube, there were some illustrations from the original baseball manga and it also features newly recorded voices of Haruka and Kei.
Besides the duo of Haruka and Kei, their friends playing basketball are also featured in the announcement video, the short clip has tuneful music that compliments the uplifted spirits of the characters. Although the announcement for the second season has been made, there is no official release date or new cast announced.
The baseball manga centers around the lead character, Haruka Kiyomine who is an exceptional pitcher and is often regarded as a flawless player. Kei Kaname who is a superb catcher is known as the ‘General’ suffering from amnesia because of which he has lost his memories.
The remarkable duo in the anime was hard to beat in junior high and continuously shattered the aspirations of other players. Both the players join Kotesashi High School which is relatively unknown where they encounter other baseball athletes who have stopped playing the game after getting defeated by Haruka and Kei.
