July 13, Saturday marked the unfortunate death of Shannen Doherty, at the age of 53. The following day, July 14, Jennie Garth, along with other former co-stars, including Tori Spelling and Jason Priestly, expressed her grief through an Instagram post.
Sharing two throwback images of them, she wrote: “I am still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of my long-time friend Shannen, the woman I have often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known.” The photos themselves were taken back in the days when they were still starring on the hit 1990s show.

Going back in the days, there used to be times when tension filled the space between Garth and Doherty. On Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in 2019, Garth also admitted that there was once a moment when they had to take things “outside” over something she referred to as “so stupid”. However, by the end, they always found common ground and continued their friendship.
Looking back on the past times, she reflected in her post: “We were so often pitted against each other, but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship, which was one built on mutual respect and admiration.”
Continuing her admiration for Shannen, she added: “She was courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories.”
Sharing grief for the late star’s family and loved ones, she mentioned: “My heart breaks for her family and Bowie and all the people who loved her. 💔” With that, she paid a special reference to Doherty’s dog, Bowie, who was one of the people beside the star in her final moments.
