Since Taylor Swift started dating the football tight end Travis Kelce, the attendance of female fans has increased at the National Football League (NFL) games. They visit to watch the games with another level of excitement and often wear t-shirts that read, “Go Taylor’s boyfriend” or similar phrases.

In the recent NFL games, Us Weekly spoke to a few members of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading squad about the Taylor Swift effect on the games. They made shocking revelations and claimed that some fans are just watching the NFL because of Swift.

Addressing Swift’s impact on the NFL, Kelli Finglass, the current director for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders said, “You know, they say Taylor Swift has had an effect, an economic effect and everything else.” She gave reference to Taylor’s 2023 appearances at boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games.

“I will say from our experience women and children are a huge part of our fan base. So that’s kind of always been a part of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ world” she added while promoting Netflix’s America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.

Another Cowboys cheerleader Victoria Kalina also spoke to Us Weekly about Swift’s impact on the NFL games.

“I remember listening to an interview with Taylor Swift and there were some girls and they were like, ‘Yeah we only bought tickets so we could maybe get a glimpse of Taylor Swift,” Victoria recalled.

Additionally, she revealed that her mother has also interacted with countless fans who come to the game just for a mere glance of Swift.

“My mom has encountered some people at the [Cowboys] games where they’re like, ‘Yeah we’re only here to watch the girls. So there’s definitely that audience too and we’re hoping to reach even more of that with this show” she stated.

In a February press conference, NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodell spoke about Swift’s relationship with Kelce and its effect on the league. He revealed that their romance proved wonderful for the sport.

“I think it’s great to have her a part of it,” Goodell said. “It creates a buzz, it creates another group of young fans — particularly young women — that are interested in seeing, ‘Why is she going to this game? Why is she interested in this game?’”

He called the ‘Taylor Swift Effect’ a ‘positive’ for the league.

Moreover, he said, “Both Travis and Taylor are wonderful young people, and they seem very happy. She knows great entertainment, and that’s why she loves NFL football.”
