Aniwave Website Displayed Last Message After Shutdown

Anime pirated sites shut down overnight

Aniwave’s website was suddenly takedown overnight with a message, “Creating better products that provide an improved user experience and fostering competition to drive the market to enhance products is something we are very happy about. Now that everything has improved … it is also time for us to say goodbye.”

The white screen of the YouTube video of Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again”, playing in the background.

“If possible, please use legal paid services. It’s something we should do to show respect for our creators and content producers. Good bye!”

ACE revealed that these piracy sites dropped around 374 million viewers per month. A report said that internet pirate websites had more than 6.7 billion visitors between January 2023 and June 2024.

Moreover, nonprofits in the marketing and internet safety industries disclosed that the U.S. economy faces the loss of 71,000 jobs and $12.5 billion annually because of pirated websites like Aniwave and fmovies.

Larissa Knapp, chief content protection officer at the Motion Picture Assn. said in a press release, “Whenever films or TV shows are pirated, it’s not just content owners or studios that are affected — it’s also the people who work as writers, storyboard artists, illustrators, editors, sound mixers and more.”

However, piracy is a crime and it is illegal to share copyrighted content and work. Aniwave is one of these pirated websites that makes a profit from pirated content but everyone should be aware of pirated websites. Besides this, consumers are accessing these sites for free streaming where they get thousands of movie collections and anime shows.

Another issue is that many users on Reddit said that the Aniwave website offers a better streaming experience and a more pleasing collection of entertainment than paid or legal platforms.

ACE shut down various pirated sites along with Aniwave in order to protect consumers from witting pirated owners and original works and contents.
